Timișoara Cathedral hosts thousands for Saint Joseph of Partoș feast

Thousands of pilgrims gathered at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Timișoara to honor Saint Joseph of Partoș, the spiritual protector of the Banat region. The celebrations, held on September 15, included a traditional procession through the city streets and services at the cathedral.

Large crowds formed queues to venerate the reliquary of Saint Joseph, a 17th-century Metropolitan of Banat. The religious events began with Vespers and a procession covering four boulevards surrounding the cathedral. Participants traveled from various parts of Romania, including Suceava, Brăila, and Ialomița, to attend the festivities.

Metropolitan Ioan Selejan led the religious ceremonies, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual importance of the event for the Banat community. The celebrations are expected to continue through September 16, after which the reliquary will be returned to its permanent place within the cathedral.
