Timișoara City Hall proposes buying Aurora Market buildings for parking

The Timișoara City Hall has proposed initiating negotiations to purchase four buildings located at the Aurora Market in the Dâmbovița neighborhood. The municipality currently owns the 1.4-hectare site, but the land has been under a concession contract with Aurora SRL since 1997, which remains valid for the duration of the existing structures.

Vice Mayor Ruben Lațcău stated that the primary immediate goal is to address the neighborhood's significant shortage of parking spaces. Because the terrain is already paved, the city intends to convert the area into a large public parking lot relatively quickly. In the long term, the municipality aims to pursue full urban regeneration for the entire site.

A draft resolution to empower a negotiation commission to acquire the buildings will be submitted to the Local Council for a vote.
