Infrastructure projects cause traffic disruptions in Timișoara, Cluj and Bucharest

Various infrastructure projects across Romania are causing significant traffic and transit changes. In Timișoara, road modernization and tram line maintenance will lead to traffic closures on Liviu Rebreanu Boulevard and Calea Martirilor starting August 10, 2026. These works will result in route diversions for tram lines 15 and 16, as well as Express bus line 3. Additionally, the STPT ticket kiosk in Piața Traian will be temporarily closed until December due to local infrastructure works.

In Cluj-Napoca, the Metropolitan Ring project faces continued delays. Nine years after the project was taken over by the Cluj-Napoca City Hall, major works remain largely unstarted following failed tenders and a terminated contract. Only a 2 km section is currently under construction.

In Bucharest, the City Hall is beginning rehabilitation works on the alley in Herăstrău Park near Șoseaua Nordului. The one-month project aims to create a new pedestrian zone and 527 regulated parking spaces, which will cause partial traffic restrictions in the area.
