Timișoara hosts major literature and ideas festivals

Timișoara is hosting two major cultural events this October. The 15th edition of the Timișoara International Literature Festival (FILTM) takes place from October 14 to 16, featuring approximately 30 writers and guests from Romania and abroad. Under the theme “New, on all fronts,” the festival includes debates, readings, and poetry recitals at the National Museum of Art Timișoara and Scârț Loc Lejer. The program emphasizes youth engagement through meetings with students and pupils from various local educational institutions.

Additionally, the Timișoara Ideas Fest will be held at the West University of Timișoara from October 19 to 22. Operating under the slogan “Attention, future under construction!”, the festival focuses on critical thinking and contemporary challenges through conferences and workshops. A highlight of the event is a scheduled dialogue on October 21 between philosopher and editor Gabriel Liiceanu and literary critic Mircea Mihăieș, titled “The books that made us human,” exploring the role of reading in personality formation.
