Transfăgărășan and Timișoara Road Closures on July 20 2026

On Monday, 20 July 2026, the Romanian National Company for Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) will temporarily close a 12‑kilometre section of the Transfăgărășan (DN7C) between kilometre 103+500 (Vila Bâlea) and kilometre 115+500 (near the Salvamont base) to host the “Custom Cars Society” automotive event. Traffic will be halted in two intervals, 12:00‑14:00 and 16:00‑19:00, with normal flow restored outside those periods. Drivers are urged to plan alternative routes, obey temporary signage and follow police directions.

Starting the same day, the Timișoara City Council’s traffic commission approved a series of road‑use restrictions across the city, prompted by gas‑pipeline replacement work by Delgaz Grid, utility upgrades, and a railway‑modernisation project. Major restrictions include Doamna Chiajna (20 July – 7 August 2026, 08:00‑18:00), Calea Circumvalaţiunii (same period), the rear of Gheorghe Lazăr (3 – 31 August 2026, 08:00‑18:00), Lacului (21 – 24 July 2026, 08:00‑20:00) and a long‑term limitation on Aristide Demetriade and Divizia 9 Cavalerie (21 July 2026 – 31 December 2026). Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and heed the temporary traffic signs.
