Timișoara Road Closures and Power Outages Hit Residents in Late July
From 27 July to early September 2026, the Timișoara municipality approved a series of traffic restrictions affecting several streets. Closures include Ion Mincu (27‑29 July), Calea Aradului (27‑31 July, 08:00‑16:30), Aleea Pădurea Verde (August), Calea Torontalului (August‑September) and Splaiul Nicolae Titulescu for the City Celebration event. The restrictions aim to enable secondary‑heat network repairs, concrete barrier installations, a new round‑about, and event logistics.
Simultaneously, Reţele Electrice România scheduled planned electricity interruptions across the Timiș county for maintenance and modernization from 27 July to 31 July, affecting towns such as Jimbolia, Lugoj, Giroc, Oloșag, Timișoara and several surrounding villages. Each locality received specific time windows, typically 09:00‑17:00, to minimize disruption.
At the Timișoara International Airport, the road crossing at DJ 609D – Aeroport remained closed until 31 August to complete the Caransebeș‑Timișoara‑Arad railway modernization works. Drivers were redirected via DN 6 and the city’s ring road, with guidance to plan extra travel time.
These coordinated infrastructure projects cause temporary inconvenience for commuters and residents but are intended to improve long‑term utility and transport capacity.
