Timișoara offers youth climate project grants up to $5,000

The Timișoara City Hall has launched the Youth Climate Action Fund, a program designed to provide funding for environmental projects led by young people. Supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Timișoara is one of 300 cities worldwide selected for this funding round.

From a total allocation of $50,000, $40,000 will be directed toward youth-led initiatives. Eligible teams, consisting of at least two individuals aged 15 to 24, can receive microgrants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. These grants will be administered in local currency through eligible organizations.

Projects must align with the city's climate priorities, which include promoting walking, cycling, and public transport; reducing waste and resource reuse; protecting biodiversity; expanding green spaces; and reducing air and noise pollution. Other eligible areas include climate education, circular economy solutions, and community resilience. Applications must be submitted online in either Romanian or English by October 31, with selected projects expected to be completed by April 15, 2027.
