Sölvesborg municipality forms new governing coalition

The composition of the upcoming government in Sölvesborg, Sweden, has been finalized. The municipality will continue to be governed by the 'Framtid Sölvesborg' coalition, consisting of the Social Democrats, Moderates, Centre Party, and the Social Democrats for Sölvesborg (SoL).

Birgit Brorsdotter (Social Democrats) is expected to serve as the chairperson of the municipal executive board, while Kith Mårtensson (Moderates) is likely to take the position of first vice chairperson.

The new administration faces significant challenges, particularly regarding the local school system. A declining student population—dropping from approximately 200 to 130 children over the last decade—has raised concerns about resource efficiency and educational equality. These demographic shifts, combined with an aging population and decreasing tax revenues, are expected to necessitate difficult budgetary decisions.
