Timon, Brazil launches Folguedos 2026 cultural festival

The XXXII Encontro de Folguedos de Timon begins on 15 July and runs through 18 July at the Cocais Shopping parking lot. The four‑day celebration, organized with São João do Maranhão and the state government, is expected to attract thousands of visitors.

Mayor Rafael Brito says the festival preserves local traditions such as quadrilhas, bumba‑meu‑boi and reisado while creating jobs and boosting the municipality’s creative economy. The programme features national acts including João Gomes, Nattanzinho Lima, Toca do Vale, Manim Vaqueiro, Mara Pavanelly and Márcia Fellipe, alongside regional performers, with security and comfort measures emphasized by the mayor.
