Warner Bros. clarifies status of 'Wonka 2' sequel

Warner Bros. and co-writer Simon Farnaby have moved to clarify reports regarding the status of 'Wonka 2,' the sequel to the 2023 musical prequel. Initial confusion arose following an interview in which Farnaby suggested the film might be "delayed indefinitely" due to lead actor Timothée Chalamet's busy schedule.

Farnaby subsequently clarified via social media that his comments were taken out of context and that a sequel is still actively planned. He stated, “I 100% did not say Wonka 2 wasn’t happening. A sequel was always the plan. Everyone is working really hard on it.” A spokesperson for Warner Bros. echoed this, calling reports of a delay "entirely false" and confirming the creative team is working on the next chapter.

The delay in production is attributed to the challenge of coordinating schedules with Chalamet, who has a high volume of upcoming projects. While the project is moving forward, no official release date has been set.
