Timothy Ivan Triyono resigns from Bakom RI amid luxury lifestyle controversy

Timothy Ivan Triyono has resigned from his position as Deputy II for Material and Dissemination at the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI). His resignation, effective October 2, 2026, comes amid public scrutiny regarding his social media posts showcasing a luxury lifestyle, often referred to as ‘flexing’.

Muhammad Qodari, Head of Bakom RI, stated that Timothy submitted his resignation to conduct self-introspection and personal evaluation. Qodari expressed appreciation for Timothy’s contributions during his five-month tenure.

Prior to the resignation, Qodari had issued a stern reprimand to Timothy and reminded all deputies to exercise caution on social media and limit the display of luxury lifestyles. Qodari also issued a personal and institutional apology to the public, acknowledging a lapse in reminding staff about the standards of propriety expected of public officials.
