Tina Merlin: Centenary of courageous Italian investigative journalist

The centenary of the birth of Tina Merlin, a prominent Italian investigative journalist, is being commemorated. Born on August 19, 1926, in Trichiana, Merlin became one of the most courageous reporters of the 20th century.

Her career was marked by her roles as a partisan, a militant writer, and a journalist for the newspaper ‘Unità’. She is notably remembered for her early and persistent denunciations regarding the dangers of the Vajont dam, warnings that were largely ignored or dismissed at the time.

To honor her legacy, the National Federation of Journalists' Unions (FNSI) has established an investigative journalism award in her name.
