Tina Šutej secures third place at Budapest István Gyula Memorial

Slovenian pole‑vaulter Tina Šutej finished third at the 16th István Gyula Memorial in Budapest, clearing 4.75 m in the final attempt. Her earlier jumps were 4.41 m, 4.51 m, 4.61 m and 4.68 m, keeping her among the leaders throughout the competition.

In the women's high‑jump, compatriot Lia Apostolovski placed fifth with a best of 1.91 m. The event was won by Australia's Nina Kennedy (4.80 m) and America's Eleanor Patterson (2.00 m). Other highlights included Sweden’s Armand Duplantis clearing 6.07 m in the men’s pole vault and Ja’Kobe Tharp winning the 110‑m hurdles in 12.85 seconds.

Šutej’s coach noted that she will focus on additional training ahead of the European Championships in Birmingham, aiming to improve beyond 4.80 m. Šutej also mentioned a lingering tendon issue that limited further attempts.
