Tinariwen announces 2027 Australian and New Zealand tour

Malian Tuareg collective Tinariwen has announced an Australian and New Zealand tour scheduled for February and March 2027. The tour follows the release of their tenth studio album, ‘Hoggar’, which was recorded in the Hoggar region of Algeria.

The new album features a reunion with founding member Liya ‘Diarra’ Ag Ablil, who returns to play guitar on six tracks after a twenty-year absence. The record also includes contributions from Swedish musician José González and Sudanese oud player Sulafa Elyass.

The tour itinerary includes performances in Hobart, Sydney, Brisbane, Byron Bay, and Melbourne, as well as two appearances at WOMADelaide. The group will also perform at WOMAD New Zealand in Taranaki.
