Tiny house designs prioritize apartment-style comforts

New designs in the tiny house market are focusing on maximizing living space to mimic the feel of traditional apartments.

Teacup Tiny Homes has developed the Ellice house, a 39sqm mobile home based on their Bernice line. Featuring a contemporary industrial aesthetic with anthracite-gray siding and large windows, the unit is built on a triple-axle trailer. The interior includes high-end amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a gas stove, and a built-in oven, aiming to provide a high quality of life despite the compact footprint.

In the United States, Backcountry Tiny Homes has produced the Retirement Retreat. This 38-foot-long model utilizes a triple-axle gooseneck trailer to achieve a 10-foot width, which requires a towing permit but allows for significantly more interior space. The design features a galley-style kitchen with quartz counters, a wood-burning stove, and practical domestic additions like a stacked washer/dryer and a dedicated laundry alcove.
