Tioxide restarts titanium dioxide production at Greatham facility

Tioxide has announced the successful recommissioning and restart of its titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment production facility at the Greatham site in Hartlepool. Following the acquisition of the site and its assets by LB Group, the facility has commenced single-stream operations, allowing TIOXIDE® and DELTIO® products to return to the market.

The restart follows a four-month period of commissioning, testing, and maintenance. A phased ramp-up is currently underway, with the company aiming to reach full operational capacity by early 2027.

To support this transition, Tioxide has implemented an extensive recruitment programme. Since April, the company has hired over 60 employees, bringing its total workforce to more than 200. A second phase of recruitment is now launching to create approximately 60 additional roles as the company prepares to bring its second production line into operation. These roles include production, engineering, and technical specialists, as well as staff for research and development in Wynyard and head office functions in Stockton-on-Tees.
