Štip land sale tenders face opposition calls for cancellation

Trajche Stojchevski, president of the SDSM, has called for the immediate cancellation of tenders for the sale of state-owned construction land in Štip. He alleges that the municipality, led by Mayor Ivan Jordanov of VMRO-DPMNE, is selling land to benefit specific business interests associated with the ruling party.

Stojchevski highlighted that the tenders target the well-known 'Pečurki' area, which houses legal entities and livelihoods for many citizens. He questioned whether the local government had consulted residents regarding the potential construction of high-rise buildings in the area.

The opposition leader raised concerns regarding the transparency of the process, noting that the tender conditions have been changed three times and that the advertisements were published during the holiday season. He claimed the land is being offered at low prices—approximately 1,600 denars per square meter—to allow business partners of party leadership to profit from future construction.
