TIP Strategies presents new economic development framework

A briefing by Austin-based consultant TIP Strategies outlined a new economic development framework focused on three primary goals: innovation and industry, placemaking and real estate, and talent and workforce development. The initiative aims to increase competitiveness and expand the commercial tax base to create employment opportunities at various skill levels.

During the presentation, Councilwoman Teri Castillo highlighted the connection between economic development and infrastructure. She noted that recent storms have left many constituents in her Westside district without electricity for several days, emphasizing the urgent need for improved amenities and infrastructure to support both residents and business investment in high-poverty areas.
