Tip Toe series may receive prequel focusing on Melba character

The Channel 4 drama series ‘Tip Toe’, created by Russell T Davies, is being discussed for a potential prequel. Actor Paul Rhys, who portrays the character Melba, revealed in an interview that there are talks of exploring Melba’s backstory, noting that the character is ‘not finished’ in Davies’ mind.

The five-part series has received critical acclaim, earning a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes and winning a Television Award at the Attitude Awards. The drama follows the lives of Leo, a gay bar owner played by Alan Cumming, and his neighbor Clive, played by David Morrissey, amidst a rising tide of homophobia.

During his acceptance speech, Davies addressed the political nature of the work, describing the series as a ‘cry of anger’ regarding the impact of legislation on the LGBTQ+ community.
