Tip Top Ice Cream recalls Jelly Tip batch over bacteria concerns
New Zealand Food Safety is assisting the Tip Top Ice Cream Company with a recall of a specific batch of 6-pack Jelly Tip ice cream. The recall is due to the potential presence of Bacillus cereus, a bacteria that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness, typically resulting in diarrhoea.
The affected products are sold in 6-pack cardboard boxes (6 x 75ml) with best-before dates of 30-SEP-28 03:00 L MO6252 to 30-SEP-28 05:00 L MO6252. These items were sold at Woolworths supermarkets in the North Island of New Zealand.
Authorities have removed the products from store shelves and confirmed they have not been exported. Consumers are advised not to eat the ice cream and to return it to the place of purchase for a refund or dispose of it. While no illnesses have been reported yet, individuals concerned about their health should contact a medical professional or Healthline.
