Tips for organizing and gardening in small outdoor spaces

Small outdoor spaces such as balconies, terraces, or small backyards can be transformed into functional refuges through strategic organization and gardening techniques.

For aquatic gardening, creating a mini pond in a container is a viable option. This requires a large, watertight vessel, ideally around 60 cm in diameter and 40 cm deep. To maintain variety, a mix of floating plants like water lettuce, margin plants such as rushes or irises, and deep-water plants like water lilies can be used. It is recommended to plant species in individual small baskets within the main container rather than directly in the bottom.

Effective organization of small outdoor areas involves defining the space's primary function and utilizing multifunctional furniture, such as benches with storage or folding tables. Creating distinct zones for sitting or dining and incorporating vertical gardens can maximize utility. Decorative elements like solar lanterns, outdoor rugs, and cushions can enhance the atmosphere, while greenery adds life to the environment.
