Tiquinho Soares returns to Botafogo with reduced salary

Tiquinho Soares has arrived in Rio de Janeiro to finalize his return to Botafogo. The 35-year-old striker, who was previously a key player in the club’s 2024 championship successes, is returning after a period without a club following a legal rescission of his contract with Santos.

To facilitate the move, Soares has reportedly accepted a significant salary reduction of over 80%, with monthly earnings expected to fall between R$ 100,000 and R$ 200,000. He has also agreed to renegotiate outstanding debts owed to him by the club's SAF.

The new contract is set to run until the end of 2026, with a performance clause that could extend his stay until June 2027 if he reaches a specific goal target. Some reports suggest this return may serve as the final chapter of his professional career.
