Tirana observes partial solar eclipse from Mount Dajti

A partial solar eclipse was visible from Tirana, Albania, on the afternoon of August 12, 2026. While the eclipse was total along a trajectory including Greenland, Iceland, and parts of northern Spain and the Balearic Islands, it appeared as a partial eclipse in other parts of Europe, including Albania.

Observers gathered in high-altitude areas, specifically Mount Dajti and surrounding hills, to witness the event. The phenomenon became visible around 19:30, shortly before sunset, providing a unique view on the horizon. Experts advised using specialized protective eclipse glasses for safe viewing, noting that standard sunglasses do not provide sufficient eye protection.
