Tirana police arrest two for smuggling and modifying gambling machines
Two individuals, identified as A. S. (53) and S. K. (67), have been arrested in Tirana following a five-month investigation known as Operation “Interceptimi”. The suspects are accused of smuggling gambling machines from neighboring countries and modifying them using illegal electronic programs and electromagnetic interference.
The operation, conducted by the Section for Cybercrime Investigation in collaboration with the Special Operational Force and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, targeted a rented warehouse in the Kodra e Priftit area. Authorities allege the machines were customized to meet the specific requirements of individuals organizing illegal gambling activities.
During the raid, police seized 25 gambling machines, four mobile phones, two laptops, and one computer unit. Investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals potentially involved in the criminal activity.
