Tirano's Scudo di San Michele receives De. Co. certification

The Scudo di San Michele, a traditional sweet bread from Madonna di Tirano, has officially received the Denominazione Comunale di Origine (De. Co.) certification. This marks the first time a product from Tirano has obtained this prestigious municipal designation, which serves to certify its specificity and protect its territorial origin.

Produced since 2005 by bakers and pastry chefs associated with the Unione-Confcommercio Sondrio, the sweet bread will return to production and sale on September 1st. The certification was granted by a municipal commission including Mayor Stefania Stoppani and the President of the Sondrio Chamber of Commerce, Loretta Credaro.

In addition to its existing logo featuring Saint Michael, the product will now display the official De. Co. seal created by the Municipality of Tirano. This designation celebrates twenty years of the product's history and its deep cultural connection to the local community.
