Tiraspol electoral commission blocks activist Nicolai Malîșev
The unrecognized electoral commission in Tiraspol has denied the registration of civic activist Nicolai Malîșev as a candidate for the region’s presidential elections.
The commission cited Malîșev’s previous electoral history as the basis for the decision, noting that he had twice been refused registration as a deputy candidate in the last five years and had one registration annulled by a court.
Malîșev, a critic of the current leadership under Vadim Krasnoselski, had expressed intentions to run and demanded accountability regarding unfulfilled economic promises. He specifically highlighted the failure to create 15,000 promised jobs and noted that approximately 25,000 residents from the Transnistrian region currently work and pay taxes on the right bank of the Dniester.
