Tirol Green leader Gebi Mair backs Leonore Gewessler for 2029 election

Gebi Mair, the leader of the Tirol branch of Austria's Green Party, publicly endorsed federal spokesperson Leonore Gewessler as the Greens' Spitzenkandidatin for the 2029 National Council election. He said she has the "heart and commitment" needed and fits the party's new self‑description as a "justice party."

Mair ruled out the Greens taking over NEOS seats in the current coalition and said the party would not join a government led by the NEOS if the ruling "pink" parties collapse. He also reiterated the Greens' goal to return to government in Tirol after the 2027 state election, confirming that incumbent governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP) will remain Landeshauptmann and that coalition options will be considered.
