Tirrenia beach clubs face new nighttime restrictions

The Mayor of Pisa, Michele Conti, has issued an urgent ordinance to restrict entertainment activities and alcohol sales at beach clubs in Tirrenia. The measure, effective until September 30, aims to balance tourism and economic development with public tranquility, resident rest, and urban safety.

Under the new regulations, musical entertainment, public shows, and disco activities—both indoors and outdoors—must cease by 1:00 AM from Sunday to Thursday. On Fridays, Saturdays, and pre-holiday periods, these activities must end by 2:00 AM. Additionally, the sale and service of alcoholic beverages at beach clubs are prohibited between 1:30 AM and 6:00 AM.

The decision follows reports from residents and tourists regarding noise pollution, shouting, and uncivil behavior during nighttime hours. To combat the so-called ‘mala movida,’ the municipality has increased local police patrols, enhanced video surveillance, and implemented sound level verifications.
