Tirsam negotiates with global automakers for passenger car production in Algeria
Algerian industrial firm Tirsam is exploring the production of passenger vehicles through negotiations with international automakers to establish industrial partnerships. The company, which specializes in vehicles and industrial and agricultural equipment, is considering either expanding its current investment projects or launching a new independent venture dedicated to passenger cars.
During a meeting on October 24, Algeria’s Minister of Industry, Farid Kourtel, met with a Tirsam delegation to discuss investment progress and local integration rates. The Minister emphasized the necessity of increasing locally manufactured components and strengthening the national subcontracting network to bolster the domestic industry and reduce import costs.
Tirsam has also engaged in strategic discussions with Toyota, including a visit to the company’s facilities in Batna, to evaluate potential collaborations. The goal of these efforts is to develop an integrated automotive industry in Algeria by combining global expertise with local industrial capacity.
