Tiruchy police facilitate rapid 178 km heart transport via Green Corridor

A donated heart was successfully transported 178 km from Madurai to the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College Hospital in Perambalur district in 1 hour and 54 minutes. The organ was donated by a 23-year-old individual who had been declared brain dead.

To facilitate the rapid transit, the Tiruchy police established a ‘Green Corridor’ along the Madurai-Tiruchy-Perambalur route. This measure, coordinated under the instructions of Central Zone IG V Balakrishnan, IPS, allowed the transport to proceed without traffic interruptions. Following the successful transplant, medical professionals reported that the recipient is in stable condition.
