Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams addresses rapid ticket sell-outs

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has addressed concerns regarding the rapid exhaustion of ₹300 Special Entry Darshan tickets, clarifying that the issue stems from demand vastly exceeding supply rather than technical failures.

According to the TTD, demand can reach approximately 24 lakh tickets if 6 lakh simultaneous users attempt to book for four family members each, which is nearly nine times the available quota of 2.69 lakh tickets. To manage this surge, the organization utilizes the Google Cloud Platform, load balancing, auto-scaling, and a virtual queue system designed to regulate traffic and protect backend systems.

The TTD also noted that messages indicating a slot is unavailable often mean the quota has been exhausted and should not be viewed as a system error. Additionally, the administration cautioned that payment failures may be linked to external banking, UPI, or gateway networks rather than the temple’s internal booking platform. A dedicated technical war room is established during ticket releases to monitor infrastructure, security, and transactions.
