Tiruvallur residents block Chennai‑Tirupati Highway after repeated night power cuts
Residents of the villages Siruvanur and Siruvanur Kandigai near Tiruvallur, representing more than 500 families, staged a road blockade on the Chennai–Tirupati National Highway after a series of unannounced night-time power cuts that had persisted for over a week. The protest, involving over 50 people, took place on a Saturday night and halted traffic on the busy highway for about an hour.
Tiruvallur Taluk police arrived, held talks with the demonstrators, and assured them that steps would be taken. Electricity Board staff were dispatched, repaired the fault, and restored power after roughly an hour. Following the restoration, the protesters withdrew and traffic returned to normal.
