Tismana hosts 59th National Folklore Festival

The 59th edition of the “La Tismana-ntr-o grădină” National Festival of Song, Dance, and Folk Costume took place on August 14 and 15, 2026, in Tismana. This year, the event attained national status, drawing participants from seven different counties in Romania alongside local representatives from Gorj.

The competition featured four distinct categories: vocal soloists, instrumental soloists, folk dance ensembles, and traditional costumes. In the vocal soloist category, Daria Frățilescu from Tismana won the Festival Trophy. Other notable winners included Larisa Sarcină for first prize in the vocal section and Bianca Birău for first prize in the instrumental soloist section.

In the folk dance category, the “Nedeia” Folk Ensemble from Novaci, Gorj, took first place. The traditional costume category saw Emilia Copaci win the prize for women's folk costume, while Victoraș Lala received the award for men's folk costume.
