Tisza Party clarifies status of NVVH leadership candidate

The Tisza Party has clarified its position regarding the selection process for the head of the National Asset Recovery and Protection Office (NVVH). Following a previous announcement that Nicholas Sárvári was their candidate, the party stated that the initial communication was poorly phrased and that Sárvári was not actually a party nominee.

Instead, the party explained that they requested a hearing for Sárvári because he was the fourth-highest scoring applicant in the open competition. Under the committee's rules, factions could suggest an additional candidate for a hearing to ensure broader competition.

István Hantosi, chairman of the parliamentary Justice and Constitutional Committee, confirmed that the committee aims to select the most qualified expert. He noted that while the top three candidates were selected based on committee evaluations, factions were permitted to propose additional individuals. During his hearing, Sárvári, a dual Hungarian-Canadian citizen, commented on the lack of transparency in public spending over recent decades.
