Tisza Party government delays election promises in Hungary

The Tisza Party government is facing criticism for deviating from several campaign promises following the release of the 2027 budget details. Key areas of discrepancy include planned wage increases, tax cuts, and support for pensioners.

In the social and child protection sectors, the government previously promised an immediate 25 percent wage increase. However, current plans suggest a two-step increase totaling 20–25 percent, which may be calculated by factoring in minimum wage rises and tax credits. Labor unions have expressed dissatisfaction, noting that no agreement was reached regarding the originally demanded retroactive 25 percent increase and that wages remain significantly below the national average.

In the healthcare sector, the Medical Professionals' Trade Union (MESZK) has reported that promised wage developments scheduled for this year have been pushed to 2027. The union is also calling for greater involvement in decision-making processes, requesting that at least half of a proposed 500 billion forint fund be allocated specifically to professional wages.
