Tisza Party leads Fidesz among Hungarian retirees in new poll
A recent analysis by the Iránytű Institute reveals that the Tisza Party has overtaken Fidesz in popularity among voters aged 65 and older. According to the study, which analyzed a database of 3,000 people, 42 percent of seniors support the Tisza Party, compared to 30 percent for Fidesz and 6 percent for Mi Hazánk.
The shift is also evident across various demographics and locations. In Budapest, Tisza holds 60 percent support against 18 percent for Fidesz. In villages, the party leads with 44 percent to Fidesz's 28 percent. The Tisza Party maintains a dominant lead among the 18–29 age group with 67 percent support.
Szabolcs Pék, lead analyst at the Iránytű Institute, suggested that the movement of elderly voters toward the leading party may be driven by a tendency to align with perceived winners, a trait noted in generations raised during the socialist era. He also noted that the perceived breakdown of the Fidesz propaganda machine may have made it more difficult to obscure issues regarding the current administration.
