Tisza Party politician faces backlash over controversial remarks
Krisztián Kulcsár, a sports politician for the Tisza Party, is facing criticism following contradictory statements regarding Hungarian sports and society. While Kulcsár previously told HVG that his party would maintain or increase state support for sports, labeling it a ‘national value,’ recent footage from a Tisza-island event suggests a different stance.
During the event, Kulcsár reportedly criticized the Hungarian national football team, describing their performance as being aided by a ‘watered-down field’ and suggesting their qualification for the 2020 European Championship was largely due to luck rather than merit. Furthermore, the Tűzfalcsoport group highlighted comments where Kulcsár allegedly claimed Hungary is unable to host the Olympics because its citizens are ‘racist, closed-off, do not speak foreign languages, and are culturally backward.’
