Titan Capital Holding faces US$ 1 billion debt crisis in Cayman Islands liquidation

The liquidation of Titan Capital Holding, a Cayman Islands-based holding company linked to Banco Master and controlled by Daniel Vorcaro, has revealed a lack of local assets despite debts totaling approximately US$ 1.064 billion. During a recent meeting with creditors led by liquidator Grant Thornton, it was reported that the holding company has no financial resources or employees in the Cayman Islands.

Creditors have presented claims totaling US$ 1.064 billion, which are currently under analysis. The liquidator noted that Titan’s assets are primarily tied to subsidiaries in Brazil and investment funds associated with Banco Master. To protect remaining assets and secure documentation, Grant Thornton is considering filing for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection in the United States.

Challenges in the liquidation process include a lack of cooperation from former directors, who were also former executives at Banco Master, and a shortage of funds to cover legal and administrative costs. Investigations in Brazil have also looked into the company regarding allegations of money laundering and asset stripping.
