Titans Rugby Academy edges Middelburg Stormers in championship opener

Titans Rugby Academy, the defending Betway 1st Division champions, secured a 14-12 victory over the Middelburg Stormers in their 2026 Betway Women's Club Championship opener at Alberton Rugby Club.

The Titans established an early 14-0 lead during the first half through a try by 19-year-old Amey Harker and a try from Siphenathi Yeko, both of whom successfully converted their attempts.

The Middelburg Stormers mounted a second-half comeback led by Ywayda de Vos and Shanice Scholtz. Scholtz, who was brought in from the SA U23 camp, scored a try and a conversion to narrow the deficit to two points, but the Stormers were unable to overtake the Titans before the match concluded.
