Tito Balestra Foundation announces commemorative cultural project

The Tito Balestra Foundation has announced ‘Tito Balestra. Il poeta dell’immagine’, a cultural project scheduled to run through late 2026 and much of 2027. The initiative marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Tito Balestra, a poet, writer, and collector who passed away on October 19, 1976.

Supported by the municipality of Longiano, the project aims to reconstruct Balestra’s intellectual legacy. This includes his connections to prominent post-war artists and writers in Rome, such as Mino Maccari and Renato Guttuso, which helped form the art collection currently housed at Castello Malatestiano.

Recent research by Barbara Menghi Sartorio and Stefano Vitali has uncovered previously unpublished poems, stories, and articles from the archives. This work has already resulted in publications such as ‘Il mio canto si perde nelle innumerevoli voci della notte. Poesie inedite e disperse di Tito Balestra’ (2024).
