Tito man arrested for killing mother after violent dispute

A 31-year-old man, Giampiero Santamaria, has been arrested for the murder of his 57-year-old mother, Maria Vittoria Carbone, in Tito, near Potenza. The incident occurred on the evening of August 20, 2026, following a violent argument in the victim's residence.

Authorities report that the victim suffered severe facial and head trauma. Emergency medical personnel attempted resuscitation, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
