Tito Karnavian mobilizes regional heads for Indonesia ASRI initiative
Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has announced plans to convene all regional heads across Indonesia in late September to intensify the ‘Indonesia ASRI’ movement. This initiative, directed by President Prabowo Subianto, aims to create a clean, healthy, orderly, and beautiful nation.
The movement focuses on comprehensive waste management, environmental cleanliness, and urban aesthetics, including the removal of ‘visual waste’ such as unregulated banners. The upcoming meeting, potentially held in Sentul, Bogor, is expected to include regional heads, members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), and leaders from the military, police, and prosecution services.
To support this agenda, the Ministry is utilizing regional performance competitions to drive development. Performance indicators for provincial, regency, and city governments include healthcare access, the ‘Three Million Houses Program’, education services, and environmental management under the ASRI concept. The goal is to motivate local governments to improve public services and maintain high standards of environmental stewardship.
