Tito Villegas begins first album recording as Fatboy Slim celebrates 40 years

Tito Villegas, a singer from Quenac Island, has begun recording his first long-duration studio album after forty years of musical career. The project, titled “El cantor de los oficios,” is inspired by the workers, landscapes, and people of the Chiloé archipelago. The recording sessions took place at Rod-Estudio Pid Pid in Castro and are supported by funding from the Chilean Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage through the 2026 Music Fund.

In other music news, British DJ and producer Norman Quentin Cook, known as Fatboy Slim, is celebrating four decades in the industry. A former member of the band The Housemartins, Cook is recognized for his influence on dance culture and his blend of black rhythms with electronic club music. He is scheduled to perform in Spain at the Vida Festival and Icónica Santalucía in Seville.

Cook reflected on his musical journey, from his early days with The Housemartins to his involvement in the UK rave culture, which he describes as a form of resistance through communal dancing.
