Tivaouane deploys major health response for Gamou 2026
Health authorities in Tivaouane are deploying an extensive medical plan to prepare for the expected massive influx of pilgrims during the Gamou 2026 religious gathering. The strategy aims to prevent improvisation and ensure safety amidst large-scale movements of faithful.
The medical response includes nearly 3,000 health workers and more than 60 ambulances, including 26 from the fire service and 28 from the health district. To support fixed medical structures, seven advanced medical posts and 14 reference points will be established to facilitate patient orientation and specialized care.
A key component of the infrastructure is the Seydi El Hadji Malick Sy National Hospital, a level 3 facility with a 300-bed capacity, which will serve as a major pillar of the sanitary coverage.
