Tivaouane markets inspected to ensure food availability for Gamou
Senegal’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr. Serigne Guèye Diop, conducted inspections of markets in Tivaouane to ensure the availability and quality of essential goods ahead of the Gamou religious event.
During his visit to several marketplaces, the minister confirmed the availability of high-demand products, specifically noting sufficient stocks of onions, potatoes, oil, and sugar. Dr. Diop expressed satisfaction with the current supply levels but urged merchants to remain vigilant regarding product quality, expiration dates, and hygiene standards.
He also emphasized the importance of adhering to approved pricing to prevent market disruptions during the period of high visitor influx. Following his market tour, the minister met with the family of the Khalife, Serigne Babacar Sy, to reaffirm the government’s commitment to supporting the organization of the Gamou through coordinated state services.
