Tivaouane Peulh: Man detained for alleged attempted theft

A 27-year-old tiler, identified as M. Sow, has been placed in custody following an alleged attempted theft at a construction site in Cité Apix, Tivaouane Peulh. The incident occurred during the night of August 24 to 25, 2026, at approximately 1:00 AM.

A security guard, A. Tambédou, reportedly caught the suspect attempting to take plumbing equipment from one of the buildings after the man entered the site by climbing over the perimeter. After being apprehended with the help of a neighbor, the suspect told investigators that he had entered the site merely to “relieve himself.”

Authorities found the explanation unconvincing due to the proximity of the plumbing materials to where the suspect was found. Following an investigation by the Tivaouane Peulh local brigade, M. Sow was presented to the Rufisque prosecutor, Cheikh Diakhoumpa, who ordered his placement under a warrant of committal.
