Montenegro signs energy and infrastructure agreements at AIM 2026
At the EU-Montenegro Investment Conference (AIM 2026), Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) signed four major cooperation agreements to advance the country's energy transition. Key partnerships include a memorandum with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Pljevlja Coal Mine to develop a solar power plant with battery storage at the former mining site, alongside district heating solutions.
EPCG also entered into agreements with international partners: Qair Montenegro for the joint development of solar and wind projects; France's Akuo Energy for renewable capacity and battery energy storage systems (BESS); and the American company Mantel Capture to explore carbon capture and storage technologies for the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant.
In the infrastructure sector, Montenegro's Ministry of Transport signed a memorandum between Monteput and the Spanish company Centunion. This agreement focuses on the Tološi–Farmaci section of the Podgorica West Bypass, a project aimed at improving urban connectivity and reducing traffic congestion in the capital.
