TiVo OS expands with AI discovery tools and new leadership
Xperi is upgrading its TiVo OS smart television platform with new generative AI-powered content discovery tools and an expanded selection of free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels. The updates include a redesigned program guide, a new mini guide for faster navigation, and personalized content carousels. The platform is also increasing its focus on sports by surfacing live games and real-time sporting events across search and recommendation features.
To support these initiatives, Xperi has appointed Tal Bone as Senior Vice President and General Manager of TiVo OS. Bone previously served as Vice President of Global Product and Chief Technology Officer at VIDAA and led Fire TV product initiatives in Europe for Amazon.
Technical enhancements include support for the DVB-I standard, which allows broadcasters to deliver linear television services over broadband, enabling viewers to watch local broadcast channels without a traditional antenna. Additionally, platform optimizations aim to reduce memory requirements and costs for smart TV manufacturers.
