Tivoli removes poster featuring influencer Afrah al-Jabouri
The Danish amusement park Tivoli has removed a Halloween campaign poster featuring Muslim influencer Afrah al-Jabouri. Tivoli press chief Torben Plank stated that the decision was made because "the current debate overshadows the campaign's message." The campaign was produced over two years ago in collaboration with a professional modeling agency.
The removal follows controversy surrounding al-Jabouri’s appearance on the TV 2 program “Højskolen.” During the broadcast, former Danish People's Party leader Pia Kjærsgaard confronted al-Jabouri regarding TikTok content that suggested sympathies with terrorism. Al-Jabouri has claimed that the images in question, which appeared to show her responding to questions about terrorism and bombing, are fake and manipulated.
Additional scrutiny has followed her participation in the Ashura procession in Copenhagen and her social media posts regarding the Iranian leadership. Al-Jabouri has previously lost employment at an airport following the onset of the controversy.
