Tivoli to Open New Japanese‑Inspired Hikari Area on Aug. 15

Denmark’s Tivoli amusement park announced that its new 2,000‑square‑metre Japanese‑inspired district, Hikari, will open on 15 August, coinciding with the park’s 183rd birthday. The redevelopment, which took five years of planning and two years of construction and cost a three‑digit‑million investment, transforms the former Asia area into a neon‑lit street‑level venue featuring two brand‑new rides – Tyfonens Øje, a centrifugal‑force coaster, and Hotel Hikari, an interactive hotel‑themed attraction – as well as five new Japanese‑themed eateries, art installations and retail spaces.

Tivoli’s managing director, Susanne Mørch Koch, said the opening marks a “new chapter” for the historic park and underscores its ambition to remain one of the world’s most attractive leisure destinations for both domestic and international visitors.
